2020 Kitchen Design Trends

Color!

The all-white kitchen will always be in style, but here are some of the exciting trends for 2020 that will add color, visual interest, and individuality to your kitchen design.

Two-toned Kitchen Cabinet Design

This design acts as the happy medium between white kitchen cabinets and hue-soaked colored cabinets. This look has been steadily gaining popularity over the past ten years.
A common application of this style consists of installing dark cabinets on the bottom, while using brighter cabinets above the kitchen counter. The darker tones in the lower kitchen cabinets can ground the space visually. And the lighter cabinets on the top visually expand the space.
Among the many color combinations within this design trend, two complementary neutrals can work especially well. Featured above is a Cabinets of the Desert-designed Palm Springs kitchen that uses a grey cabinet base and white upper cabinets with different textures.

Partner Spotlight – Statement Back Splashes

According to the 2020 Houzz Kitchen Trends Study—one in ten homeowners upgrading a back splash go big-installing it all the way to the ceiling (11%). Another 63% install tile from their counter to upper kitchen cabinets or range hood.

When it comes to color, white tile is the most popular (35%),
followed by multi-colored (20%) and gray (15%).

Bold Appliances

New colorful kitchen appliances are putting the fun back in functional and are a terrific way to add a focal point to a kitchen design.

A single bright stove, refrigerator, or a suite of matched appliances are all examples of this kitchen design trend.

Cabinets of the Desert partnered with Pirch in Rancho Mirage to build several display kitchens.

These kitchens use our Sollera cabinet line. They perfectly illustrate how visually successful colorful appliances can be. The orange appliances provide a clear design focal point to the contemporary light grey kitchen cabinets and stainless refrigerator.
