White Kitchen

Entertainer’s Paradise in Rancho Mirage

Full Home Cabinetry Installation The new owner of this 6,450 sq ft expanded ranch home refreshed and fully updated all the finishes throughout. Cabinets of the Desert installed a clean white painted updated shaker, Bellmont Cabinet Co.’s Matisse cabinet door, for the chef’s kitchen, attached pantry, breakfast seating area, and detached Casita. For the TV, built-in bar and desk, and floating accent shelving we used a Cleaf laminate product – Tyburn – a warm greige neutral with a texture inspired by oak wood to blend with the oak plank flooring used throughout the home.

2 Useful Kitchen Layouts

In our New Galley Kitchen post, we talked about new modern galley kitchen layouts. In modern homes, these two parallel rows of cabinets open up to the family and dining areas. A century ago, kitchens were relegated to a service area at the back of the house. Today we use our kitchens as a primary room for entertaining, fully integrating them into our living areas. As a result, the L-shaped kitchen has become one of the most popular kitchen layouts. It edged out the U-shaped kitchen among U.S. homeowners remodeling in 2020 -according to recent… Read More »2 Useful Kitchen Layouts

The New Galley Kitchen

A galley kitchen consists of two rows of cabinetry that face one another with a walkway between. It can be enclosed or open. This classic kitchen layout can be one of the simplest and most versatile layout choices. The layout can work in larger spaces as well. As shown in the featured kitchen above from our partners at Bellmont Cabinetry, the design creates a streamlined look. This modern… Read More »The New Galley Kitchen

Kitchen Remodeling Steps

There is a saying in the real estate industry: Kitchens sell homes. But in fact, because of low housing inventory, many people are deciding to remodel instead of selling. In addition, according to the Zillow Housing Aspirations Report, 76 percent of Americans surveyed would prefer to upgrade their home to meet their needs – especially their kitchen. From a financial standpoint, the best (and smartest) kind of kitchen remodel is one that you can enjoy yourself for a few years before selling. Here are some basic steps to take as you plan a new kitchen. Form vs.… Read More »Kitchen Remodeling Steps

Choosing Great Kitchen Cabinets

The Importance of Choosing Great Kitchen Cabinets Any contractor, real estate agent, or home buyer or seller knows that the added value in a home is found in the kitchen and bathroom spaces. Kitchens are a focal point of any home and for every dollar spent three times the value is added. Kitchen cabinets are the foundation of style and quality in the space, and they also serve to set the tone for the quality that can be found on the rest of the property.  If the kitchen is not remodeled well then that is… Read More »Choosing Great Kitchen Cabinets

Kitchen Cabinets – Aging-in-Place

We have covered Aging-in-Place generally elsewhere on this site. Please see https://www.cabinetsofthedesert.com/aging-in-place/ This blog addresses how the principles of Universal Design, which make kitchens “age-friendly,” specifically apply to the design and accessorizing of cabinetry. We start with the sink, which is where a great deal of kitchen work happens. Here cabinetry is designed to leave a space below the sink to allow a wheel chair to approach closely. If desired, doors can be attached to the front to improve the look of this arrangement. The sink itself can be fixed or motorized to make it adjustable.… Read More »Kitchen Cabinets – Aging-in-Place

Kitchen Cabinetry for a Palm Springs Remodel

Cabinets of the Desert recently provided kitchen cabinets for a beautiful remodel project in the Palm Springs Movie Colony. The client selected a classic gloss white European-style cabinet.  We customized and modernized the look of the cabinetry by removing the toe kicks and installing contemporary brushed nickel steel legs.  Cabinets of the Desert offers quality cabinetry from:

Palm Springs Condo Remodel – Kitchen & Bar

Cabinets of the Desert recently completed this kitchen and bar for a rehab/flip project in Palm Springs. Being budget-conscious for the purposes of the flip, our client went with one of our economical lines. But there was no skimping on style. We used a greige textured laminate cabinet for the refrigerator run upper cabinets. We then added a high–gloss super white European-style slab door for the lower cabinets and bar. Combined with stainless steel appliances, accent tiles, and grey-toned laminate flooring we think the result is quite stunning.
